“Please Don’t Cry. I Am Not Unfortunate, I Am Lucky.”

Sarah A. Parvin 04-14-2006

The Sarah Parvin Foundation was created in 2007 to honor the memory of Sarah Alexandra Parvin. At the age of eleven, she was diagnosed with Small Cell Ovarian Cancer with Hypercalcemia . This was not a disease that was supposed to affect children, and yet here was her diagnosis. She fought valiantly against this disease with courage and strength of spirit rarely seen in someone of her age. Although everything that could be done was done, she lost her fight at the age of twelve years and 24 days. This was not the end of her legacy, but a beginning for her family and community to keep Sarah’s spirit and zest for life alive. The loss of a child, or anyone to cancer is a devastation that is immeasurable. It can make you want to give up on life, or it can make you fight harder to change the outcome for others. We chose to effect change.
